As big as the Grammys or the Oscars, the annual BAMBI Awards sees a steady wash of A-list celebrities flock to Germany to present an award, perform or – if they’re lucky – accept one of these coveted sculptures celebrating the international top of the media community. The BAMBI’s this year was held in Wiesbaden during a glamourous ceremony, with Lady Gaga and Justin Bieber on stage and Gwyneth Paltrow to present the awards.
Watched by millions on television, the show featured an elaborate stage design with 20 moving Barco NX6 screens. Receiving real-time positioning data from the Stage Kinetik screen system, d3 automatically mapped up high-resolution content as the screens were moving side to side. Before the screen system was built and placed in its final location, d3 operator Jan Schroeder from PRG was able to simulate and sequence all screen movements within d3 directly, giving the client an accurate representation of the live show that followed at a later date. Both Artnet – sent from a GrandMa2 desk – as well as Midi Time Code were used to control d3’s timeline.
